I do often live moments and think “that would make a good blog post...” but it just never happens. Currently in my head I have archives of Cool Things Every Knitter Should Have, interesting things that have happened, pictures I should post, etc. It just NEVER happens. Do any readers who are also bloggers have any suggestions or ideas on how I can fix this, other than “stop being lazy and write, damnit”? No? Okay. Well, I AM HERE AND I AM WRITING NOW! Is anybody still out there?
Two weekends ago Will & I attended PodCamp London, which is a social media “unconference” – basically anyone can show up (registration was just $2), ANYONE attending can teach a session as long as it somehow relates to social media. Will and I have joked about starting a podcast, but really... we have nothing to say. Can you imagine a podcast as sparse as my blog? Too funny. Well, we had a great time at PodCamp London. Aside from some drama (not relating to us, just going on around us) with a friend’s podcast, Vinyl Countdown (see silly boys pictured above, note, this podcast is NOT for everyone, you have been warned of explicit content) and a woman who felt it her mission in life to be offended on behalf of everyone who has ever lived, it was a great time. We attended some sessions on use of language, media, and being authentic. I feel that no matter what I’m doing, I am always authentic – one thing I have always believed in is being yourself. Here in my blog I don’t often edit anything unless there are spelling errors or if I’ve made some grammatical error that I just can’t live with (hee), but often I just type the words that come into my brain as I think them. I think thats the best type of blog – no watered down thoughts for me! I think thats part of why my job drives me so damn crazy – I don’t often feel like I can be 100% myself, because theres always someone to answer to. Despite the fact that my job isn’t 100% satisfying, I know that it is temporary. Once my darling Scottish husband can work in the great land of Canada, things will change, and we’re slowly getting there one day at a time. Currently we’re waiting on immigration to set us up with part 2 of the paperwork process – 9 more months and we should be golden. Fingers crossed, eh? (Yes, I’m Canadian, and I just typed “eh”...)
So what have I been doing? Well, knitting. A whole hell of a lot of knitting. I won’t post everything here that I’ve worked on since, uh, what? January? Yeah you don’t need a year’s worth of knitting posted here (but if you’re a member of Ravelry, please click through the link in my first paragraph to check everything out if you’re interested). Recently though, I have started a sweater. It will be my first! Now I’ve knit a vest or two before, and baby sweaters, but not a real life adult sized sweater! Let me just say, this sweater isn’t for me (though there is a few for myself in the planning stages currently). I am knitting a sweater for a good friend from Wisconsin that I met on Ravelry, who will be coming to visit me in August! She may be coming to London to attend University of Western Ontario within the next few years to finish off her degree, so she’s going to come to check out the city. We’ll have a grand time, and I promise to post pictures, because we have so many things planned, including a tea party themed birthday celebration for her, with tons of baked goods. We’re planning a trip north to North Bay to visit another friend who has 100 acres with forest, trails, a waterfall, etc! I am very excited for these things. Anyway, we met on Ravelry in a yarn swap group, and we’ve known each other for a while now, and I offered in a swap to knit her a sweater... so I started it about 3 days ago now. Here is my current progress:
Hmm, what else? Well we went camping at the beginning of June with my mom and stepdad. We tried out our new tent that we got for Christmas and are VERY HAPPY with said new tent. Aside from a 2 hour storm that included lima bean sized hail (according to my mother it was lima bean sized... what does she know? She doesn't eat vegetables at all!), we had a very good time. The good thing is my mom and stepdad have an RV so we escaped there during the storm. All in all we had a great time. Oh I have a campfire pic to prove we went camping, haha. We did take the camera, but didn't think to actually USE it, so I took this with my Blackberry:

So, I guess thats all for now. Its about time to get dinner started (Will and I - mostly him) made some homemade gnocchi pasta earlier). I have another post percolating in my brain (foodie-themed) so maybe if I remember, I'll post that sometime this week. I am going to make an honest effort to blog more, though, I promise!

I'm still reading!!! Now to do a thorough go-through of your Ravelry project :)
Love ya.
I'm still here. Also guilty of the not-posting thing. I've given up on posting regularly and just accepted that I'll post stuff when I post. Most people use RSS or FB feeds to keep track of things now anyway, so they'll see what I post when I post.
You've certainly been busy! I always enjoy seeing what you're up to.
